The signs of the AI transformation are front and center in this year’s IoT 50 as the top companies step up their AI game to open up big new opportunities for solution providers.

AI is reshaping the Internet of Things landscape at a breakneck pace, with the best and brightest companies launching a slew of new offerings that are bringing real-time intelligence and autonomous actions to the edge.

The signs of the AI transformation are front and center in this year’s IoT 50 as the top companies step up their AI game to open up big new opportunities for solution providers.

Among some of the most notable are industrial IoT behemoth Siemens teaming with AI leader Nvidia to bring industrial and physical AI solutions to “every industry and industrial workflow.”

When the partnership was announced at CES in January, Siemens CEO Roland Busch said the two companies are “building the Industrial AI operating system—redefining how the physical world is designed, built and run—to scale AI and create real-world impact.”

Creating that impact with AI is indeed the predominant theme of this year’s IoT 50.

HiveMQ, for its part, stepped up its AI offensive with an all-out drive to become a top industrial AI platform. HiveMQ’s Pulse data intelligence platform is powering an AI revolution by turning raw industrial IoT data into real-time intelligence delivering autonomous actions at the edge.

The signs of the AI revolution were are evident in every segment of the IoT 50—from IoT hardware and IoT software to IoT connectivity and IoT security.

C.R. Howdyshell, CEO of Independence, Ohio-based Advizex, a Myriad360 company, said the IoT revolution with Nvidia leading the charge is moving into enterprise vertical markets like manufacturing and retail, delivering compelling returns on investment that are changing the economics of these industries and driving big competitive advantages for the first movers.

“AI is what cloud was six years ago,” said Howdyshell. “AI is a CEO-driven initiative. It is priority No. 1. Everyone is looking at the business outcomes they can get if they commit to the use cases.”

One customer that was balking at committing to a food service AI solution changed its mind when Nvidia and Advizex presented it with a solution that a competitor was using to improve on time deliveries with a drastic reduction in food waste. “When a customer sees that they suddenly understand what is going on in the market right now,” he said.

Another big opportunity is retail customers where IoT AI solutions are helping reduce returns and prevent pilferage. The key for winning deals is showing customers the proven use cases and business outcomes, said Howdyshell.

Howdyshell credited Nvidia Americas Channel Chief Craig Weinstein with helping to power the enterprise IoT AI revolution. “Craig is providing resources to the channel to help expand the AI footprint,” he said. “That doesn’t happen without focused leadership and execution, and he is committed to both. Nvidia gets it.”

Ultimately, the customers that are moving forward are driving new economics in their respective markets, said Howdyshell. “These new business outcomes are driving billions of dollars in business outcomes,” he said.

Howdyshell said Advizex teaming with parent Myriad360 sees the opportunity to grow from $1 billion to $2 billion in three years with AI as the predominant growth driver. “AI will determine whether we get to $2 billion or not,” he said. “We’re going to drive this AI business forward side by side with Nvidia.”
