Dive Brief:

  • Revlon appointed Ralph Marshall to serve as its chief information and digital officer, the company announced Thursday. He will assume the role April 1 and report directly to CEO Michelle Peluso.
  • Paul Smith, Revlon’s current CIO, will leave the position next month. Revlon did not respond to requests for comment.
  • Marshall most recently served as global chief technology officer at Merlin Entertainments. He’s also held senior technology leadership positions at Starbucks, Nando’s and McDonald’s.

Dive Insight:

Revlon emerged from bankruptcy in 2023 as a private company, shedding over $2.7 billion in debt. Since then, the company has remained focused on tech and innovation while beefing up its executive team and hired Peluso, a CVS Health executive, to serve as CEO.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ralph to the Revlon team,” Peluso said in a statement. “Ralph brings a robust global perspective from his many leadership roles at well-known, global brands, in addition to a passion for coaching and mentoring teams. His end-to-end technical expertise and deep understanding of how to leverage technology to strengthen the consumer experience will be critical as we work to unlock the long-term growth potential of our brands.”

Marshall brings expertise working across international markets, and has a record of aligning digital initiatives to business objectives. At Starbucks, while serving as vice president of technology for Europe, Middle East and Africa, Marshall helped usher in Starbucks Digital Solutions across 86 international markets, including Asia Pacific and Latin America. The digital solutions program focused on growing the digital channel, improving customer experience, loyalty programs and payment methods.

Revlon recently relocated its New Jersey science and innovation lab to The Northeast Science and Technology Center. The company brings its research labs, pilot manufacturing and office functions to a 62,000-square-foot space on the campus.
