ST. PAUL, Minn., July 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — PCs for People, a national nonprofit and leader in digital inclusion, proudly announces the launch of CONNECT, a fixed wireless internet service providing fast, low-cost internet to households and apartment communities nationwide.

Designed to close the digital divide for underserved families, students, and seniors, CONNECT uses 5G and 4G LTE technology to deliver download speeds up to 280 Mbps and upload speeds up to 80 Mbps, at a fraction of the cost of traditional internet providers. The service also offers wired broadband through PCs for People’s Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU) program, delivering symmetrical 100 Mbps speeds to each unit.

“We believe access to the internet is access to opportunity,” said Casey Sorensen, CEO of PCs for People. “With CONNECT, we’re doubling down on our mission to expand affordable, reliable internet in communities that have historically been underserved.”

About CONNECT

  • Fixed Wireless Internet: Delivered via PCs for People-installed towers and mobile broadband
  • Speeds: Up to 280 Mbps download / 80 Mbps upload (5G), and up to 50 Mbps / 10 Mbps (4G LTE)
  • Wired Internet: Symmetrical 100 Mbps service per unit via MDU program
  • Pricing: Affordable plans, including eligibility for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) and other subsidies

Focused on Communities That Need It Most

CONNECT is launching in high-need areas such as Cuyahoga County, Ohio, where PCs for People aims to enroll 11,000 subscribers by September 30, 2025. The service addresses the urgent need for reliable internet to support education, employment, healthcare, and staying connected with loved ones. Eligible households can check availability and sign up at pcsforpeople.org/connect.

Impact by the Numbers

Since 2008, PCs for People has connected over 1 million people by providing affordable computers, internet service, and digital literacy support. The organization has:

  • Installed internet in 3,000+ apartment units through its MDU program
  • Deployed hundreds of fixed wireless towers in underserved areas
  • Helped thousands of families stay connected to essential online services

Through CONNECT, PCs for People reaffirms that fast, affordable internet isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity.
