SentinelOne nabs former Google Cloud, Cisco and Symantec top executive Jeff Reed as its new chief technology officer.

SentinelOne has made a blockbuster hire in former Google and Cisco veteran Jeff Reed, who is now the cybersecurity firm’s new chief technology officer.

SentinelOne said its new CTO will now lead the company’s technical vision and platform execution; accelerate innovation; and focus on scale, resilience and customer-driven outcomes.

“I’m so excited to join the SentinelOne team—amazing technology, people and opportunity!” said Reed in a LinkedIn post Friday.

The Mountain View, Calif.-based security company said the hiring of Reed will be “a force multiplier” for SentinelOne customers, partners and platform.

He is now responsible for engineering across endpoint, cloud, AI SIEM, exposure management and more.

Jeff Reed’s Google, Cisco And Symantec History

Prior to being hired by SentinelOne, Reed has had a long IT career spanning decades in top leadership roles for tech giants like Google Cloud, Cisco and Symantec.

Reed spent over three years at Google Cloud, most recently as vice president of cloud security.

He was the architect behind major advances in Google Cloud’s security portfolio from 2020 to 2024—including the unification of Google’s acquisitions of Chronicle, Mandiant, and core cloud security.

Reed was also a big cybersecurity and networking executive at Cisco for nearly a decade, frequently seen on stage during Cisco conferences.

He was senior vice president (SVP) of product for Cisco’s entire security business for several years, as well as SVP of enterprise networks, where he was responsible for $15 billion in Cisco products.

Prior to Cisco, Reed held top leadership roles at security all-star Symantec for over nine years.

He left Symantec in 2010 as vice president and general manager of clustered storage.

Most recently, Reed was chief product officer for Vectra AI before leaving this month to join SentinelOne.
