Google is investing billions into building two new data centers in Texas and Minnesota as part of the tech giant’s plan to spend up to $185 billion in CapEx this year.
Google is pouring billions of dollars into building a pair of new data centers in Texas and Minnesota as the $456 billion tech giant continues to invest heavily in data center infrastructure.
Google CEO Sundar Pichaisaid his company plans to spend upwards of $185 billion in CapEx investments in 2026, which includes data center expansion in America and globally.
“We’re seeing our AI investments and infrastructure drive revenue and growth across the board,” said Pichai during February’s Q4 2025 financial earnings report.
“To meet customer demand and capitalize on the growing opportunities we have ahead of us, our 2026 CapEx investments are anticipated to be in the range of $175 to $185 billion,” the CEO added.

Google unveiled plans today to build a new data center in Wilbarger County, Texas, as well as in Pine Island, Minnesota.
Google’s New Texas Data Center With ‘Advanced Air-Cooling’
Mountain View, Calif.-based Google will build a new air-cooled data center in Wilbarger County, Texas, alongside help from AES Corp., which will provide energy management services and power.
“Google’s data centers are long-term investments in the communities we call home, and our new site in Wilbarger County will be no exception,” said Amanda Peterson Corio, Google’s global head of data center energy, in a statement.
“In partnership with AES, we are bringing new clean generation online directly alongside the data center to minimize local grid impact and protect energy affordability,” Corio said. “We are also pairing this new power with advanced air-cooling to eliminate operational water use, ensuring Texas remains both sustainable and resource abundant.”
Google said it’s now contracted more than 7,800 megawatts of net-new energy generation and capacity to the Texas electricity grid.
The new data center is part of Google’s plan to invest $40 billion in Texas through 2027 for cloud and AI infrastructure. Other new data centers are planned for Armstrong and Haskell counties in Texas.
New Minnesota Data Center
Google is also building a new data center in Pine Island, Minnesota.
Google said that it will be paying for a significant amount of new wind, solar and battery power as part of its contract with Xcel Energy for the new data center in Minnesota.
Google’s data center energy head Corio said the new data center “supports our goal of expanding AI and cloud capabilities in a way that provides long-term value to the places we operate.”
The Minnesota data center and associated power project is expected to cost over $1 billion.
Google’s $456 Billion Run Rate
Google’s annual run rate (ARR) currently stands at $456 billion.
The tech giant generated $114 billion in total sales during the fourth quarter of 2025, representing an 18 percent sales increase year over year.
Google’s operating income increased 16 percent year over year to roughly $36 billion.
Google’s cloud unit, Google Cloud, generated $17.7 billion in total sales, up 48 percent year over year.
