Schneider Electric’s Lord, CrowdStrike’s Rogers Head To Overtime In Channel Madness First

For the first time in the tournament’s 12-year history, a matchup is headed into overtime to determine who will move on to Round 2.

Channel Madness history was made Wednesday as the matchup between Schneider Electric’s Gordon Lord and CrowdStrike’s Michael Rogers ended in a tie, sending a Round 1 match into overtime for the first time in the tournament’s 12-year history.

Lord and Rogers had been tied yesterday in their Acceleration region matchup and traded shots all morning as the polls came to a close today at 12 PM ET.

As a result, voting for the matchup will be open today from 1 PM ET to 4 PM ET, giving the fierce competitors a three-hour window to bring home a win.

After the close of the polls, winners were determined in the other 15 Round 1 matchups.

In the Evolution region, where Corero’s Michelle Ragusa-McBain and Fortinet’s Landon Scott were locked in a dead heat, Scott emerged as the victor with 52 percent of the vote to Ragusa-McBain’s 48 percent.

Meanwhile, in the Innovation region, 1Password’s Larissa Crandall stayed strong to fend off a valiant effort from Exabeam’s Craig Patterson, ending with 54 percent of the vote to Patterson’s 46 percent.
