New Charter Technologies Acquires Startup Orchestrate AI: Exclusive

‘We’re focused on what our clients need: solutions that reduce friction and enhance their ability to grow their businesses. This is just the first step in bringing our companies together. We’re building the IT department of tomorrow today,’ says Peter Melby, New Charter Technologies CEO.

New Charter Technologies has acquired Boston-based startup Orchestrate AI, marking a significant step in the company’s strategy to enhance its MSP offerings and build the future of AI-driven IT solutions.

Orchestrate AI, which had been operating largely in stealth mode, offers an AI platform designed to fill gaps in the MSP AI vendor space, providing tailored solutions for efficient integration across various tools.

The acquisition is a critical move for Denver-based solution provider New Charter as it looks to stay ahead of the rapidly evolving AI landscape within the IT sector. It also adds to the M&A spree New Charter has been on since the start of the year.

In January, New Charter acquired Minnesota-based co-managed MSP Verus and Melville, N.Y.-based ProTech IT.

A key aspect of the Orchestrate AI’s acquisition is the ability to provide advanced AI-driven support tools. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Our technicians will be able to focus on higher-value work, while the technology ensures that clients receive top-tier service in an efficient, automated fashion,” Peter Melby (pictured above), New Charter Technologies CEO, told CRN in an exclusive interview. “Orchestrate is not a replacement for current AI vendors but a way to orchestrate and integrate tools more effectively within a dedicated platform. Their software and team align with our mission to improve our IT strategy while remaining focused on building a people-centered organization.”

With just five full-time employees at Orchestrate AI, the team will join New Charter’s ranks, continuing to innovate on AI solutions designed to enhance service experiences for clients. New Charter hopes to leverage Orchestrate AI’s platform to streamline processes, with initial tests showing that the platform can save up to 25 percent of time on help desk operations.

“Our focus is on people. AI will support and augment our operations, not replace our people” Melby said. “The acquisition allows us to automate routine tasks, giving our teams more time to engage deeply with clients on their core business needs.”

Ryan Barton, Orchestrate AI’s co-founder and CEO, said New Charter has a “unique combination” of scale and agility and, combined with Orchestrate AI, gives a “powerful” mix of experts and technology that will “catalyze the next generation of AI-infused service delivery.”

“Ninety percent of C-suite leaders list AI as their No. 1priority, according to Boston Consulting Group, and yet it’s difficult to find companies that have deeply integrated AI and done the difficult work of transformation that the novel invention of artificial intelligence allows,” Barton told CRN in an email. “By pioneering AI integration within, New Charter gains real-world experience, frameworks, vision and technology that allows us to lead our clients through the years ahead.”

Melby said New Charter’s focus will be on building a cohesive, future-proof service model that complements its existing capabilities “This is about value, not vanity,” he said.

“We’re not focused on differentiating ourselves from other MSPs,” he said. “We’re focused on what our clients need: solutions that reduce friction and enhance their ability to grow their businesses. This is just the first step in bringing our companies together. We’re building the IT department of tomorrow today.”
