Dive Brief:

  • Home remodeling company West Shore Home tapped Brian Nabet to serve as its CTO, the company said Wednesday. Nabet, who brings 25 years of IT leadership experience to the company, replaced Danny Fisher, who took on the role of chief systems officer.
  • Most recently, Nabet served as CIO of ceiling and wall system maker Armstrong World Industries, where he led AI adoption and modernization efforts. At West Shore Home, Nabet will report to B.J. Werzyn, CEO and founder of the Pennsylvania-based firm.
  • In the new role, Nabet will lead the integration of the company’s proprietary platforms, such as the AI-powered Hawkeye computer vision measurement system and Schedule at the Point of Sale tool, into a single customer experience.

Dive Insight:

Businesses across all sectors are working to stand up leadership structures that match their technology ambitions, adding or expanding roles as adoption pushes forward.

Tech-focused roles are rapidly multiplying in the C-suite. A Deloitte report published in May found that more than 7 in 10 companies have at least five technology leaders in their executive roster. The process of weaving AI into bigger parts of operations has put C-suite tech leaders in a more strategic role than before.

At West Shore Home, Nabet’s focus will be to unify and improve the delivery of IT platforms, he told CIO Dive.

“There are multiple tools and technologies, and what I want to be able to do is bridge those — from front-office to mid-office to back-office capabilities — and deliver them in a frictionless, more seamless fashion,” Nabet said.

Eppie Vojt, the company’s first chief data and AI officer, told CIO Dive in March that the company used AI to add more precision to the estimates provided to customers. The AI-driven enhancements were a boon for the customer experience, Vojt said.

AI adoption efforts will press on, Nabet said, with a team sport approach to the company’s deployment.

“We’re going to get this in the hands of people in procurement, in finance — people across our business — so they can engage and improve the operational day to day but also help us think larger, broader about our strategic initiatives and priorities,” Nabet said.
