Joins Forces with Publicly Traded UK-Based Company to Broaden IT Solutions and Services

DALLAS, Sept. 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — GDT, a leading North American technology solutions provider specializing in data center and networking services, today announced a definitive agreement to be acquired by Softcat, a publicly traded UK-based IT infrastructure provider with a complementary portfolio focusing primarily on IT procurement and lifecycle management. The acquisition will expand the range of solutions and services available to both companies’ customers, creating a market-leading transatlantic IT solutions platform that can support clients with international requirements while also providing growth opportunities in both organizations’ markets.

Softcat ranked as CRN’s #1 VAR in the UK for the last three years, also operates in Ireland and other global markets, and offers services spanning software licensing, hardware, cloud, networking, cybersecurity, AI, data and workplace solutions. Its acquisition of GDT is the culmination of the firm’s multi-year search for a North American company with the scale, capabilities and cultural alignment to support its international growth strategy.

GDT will retain its name, leadership team and workforce, operating as a wholly owned Softcat subsidiary.

“GDT has built a strong business by putting customers first and building deep expertise in the technologies that matter most to their success. Softcat shares that commitment 100%,” said Shawn O’Grady, CEO of GDT. “Together, we can deliver a broader set of solutions, deeper resources and global reach with the high-touch service our customers have come to expect while also giving our team new opportunities to grow and innovate as part of a larger organization. Joining forces with Softcat will benefit every customer, employee and technology partner as well as our respective bottom lines.”

Multiple Customer Benefits

For both GDT and Softcat customers, the fusion of the two companies’ portfolios will provide an end-to-end suite of solutions, services and vendor relationships that will simplify sourcing, accelerate transformation initiatives, and offer specialized expertise across the full IT lifecycle from the desktop to the data center. That same broadening of capabilities also positions the combined business to play a larger role in helping customers build the secure, connected infrastructure required to support AI workloads.

In addition, customers will gain enhanced global support and deeper technical resources as both sides invest in expanding GDT’s Global Operations Center in Bangalore. That investment will enable the center to provide expanded engineering expertise, optimized business systems and 24/7 service that is increasingly critical in today’s always-on IT environment.

Underpinning these expanded capabilities is the shared people-first, customer-centric culture of both companies, which was a key factor in Softcat’s selection of GDT as its North American platform. That common approach to customer service and relationship-building will help preserve the high-touch experience, long-term relationships and local autonomy that customers value while also supporting the continued growth of the combined business.

“Our customers have repeatedly asked us to support their technology requirements outside the UK and Ireland, particularly in North America. GDT meets every benchmark we looked for to meet that request, including meaningful US scale, an established U.S. enterprise customer base, deep data center and networking capabilities, and a customer-first corporate culture that matches our own,” said Graham Charlton, Softcat Executive Director and CEO. “With GDT, we will be creating a company with the scale, talent and technical depth to capitalize on the massive growth opportunities in today’s technology market.”

Closing Date

GDT’s acquisition by Softcat positions the company to build on that momentum with expanded resources, broader offerings and a strategic path to greater market impact. The transaction is expected to close no later than the end of Q1 calendar year 2027, subject to customary regulatory filings and approvals.
