‘Being an MSP is already hard. Compliance is harder,’ says Wayne Hunter, founder and CEO of AvTek Solutions. ‘You can build your own team, or you can partner with ours. Either way, you need to do this. Your clients expect it, the law is demanding it and your business could depend on it.’
AvTek Solutions is offering a free compliance service for fellow MSPs with a specialized team to handle compliance, risk management and policy generation.
What started as a highly specialized service for banks and other regulated industries has now officially opened to MSPs. With this new compliance service, AvTek offers a lifeline for MSPs struggling to meet growing compliance demands without losing focus on their IT services.
“Three years ago, MSPs jumped into compliance thinking tools would be enough,” Wayne Hunter, founder and CEO of Allen, Texas-based AvTek Solutions, told CRN in an interview. “They quickly realized tools don’t write policies. They don’t sit with auditors. They don’t interpret state laws or federal mandates. So we built a team to do all of that, with CISOs, CISSPs, analysts, and we’ve been doing it quietly, directly and successfully. Now we’re ready to bring MSPs into the fold.”

The new program offers two go-to-market models. The white-label model enables MSPs to resell the service as their own, and the co-branded third-party model allows AvTek to act as an independent compliance partner.
“We’re not another vendor just selling software licenses,” he said. “This is a full-service compliance department. Our people don’t even have administrative access to our own systems. We’ve built it to meet strict separation of duties and maintain chain of evidence.”
There’s no monthly partner fee, no required minimums and no upfront costs. MSPs are only billed when they sell the service to a client. “Think of it like old-school channel sales,” Hunter said. “Ship it, then get invoiced. It’s that straightforward. The customer pays for everything.”
He said while most services give MSPs tools, “and maybe some templated documentation,” AvTek gives MSPs a virtual compliance officer, help with state and federal laws and ongoing updates so their clients, and the MSP, stay audit-ready.
The team currently stands at five full-time compliance professionals, but Hunter plans to triple that headcount in 2026. “Compliance people are even harder to find than IT pros. So we’re building them ourselves.”
The program isn’t just about checking boxes. It’s a protective shield against the growing legal and financial risks of non-compliance. Hunter referenced a growing number of states that under new laws require businesses to prove in court that they followed proper security protocols if they want protection from lawsuits after a cyber incident.
“This is real now,” he said. “If you get breached, you may have to face a judge and prove you were following documented processes. If you can’t, you’re open to punitive damages and your cyber insurance might not pay out. The rules are changing fast and MSPs can’t afford to fall behind.”
Charles Henson, owner of Brentwood, Tenn.-based MSP Nashville Computer, said Avtek brings the “compliance expertise to the table” by writing policies and documenting the necessary procedures.
“They work directly with our clients and ensure each client’s program aligns with the latest regulatory standards,” Henson told CRN in an email. “Our role is to validate that the appropriate controls are in place within the client’s environment, creating a seamless collaboration that covers both the technical and compliance sides of the equation. This partnership removes the burden of compliance from our internal team while empowering us to deliver a higher level of service and trust to our clients. It’s truly a win-win relationship that allows us to focus on what we do best, which is secure and fully protect our clients, while AvTek verifies and ensures compliance.”
Hunter doesn’t want to build “a massive vendor empire,” but would rather become a leader in how compliance is done practically, legally and ethically for MSPs and their clients.
“Being an MSP is already hard. Compliance is harder,” he said. “You can build your own team, or you can partner with ours. Either way, you need to do this. Your clients expect it, the law is demanding it and your business could depend on it.”
