New standards align high-performing AI with seven dimensions of human flourishing — backed by global research and industry experts
BOULDER, Colo., Feb. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Gloo, a technology platform connecting the faith ecosystem, today announced a new set of trust standards and the formation of a trust advisory group to advance artificial intelligence that is aligned with human flourishing. The new standards and advisory group are part of the broader Gloo Open strategy announced earlier this month, which includes open access to AI research, models and datasets that include research, articles, images and other non-copyrighted content. These announcements underscore the Gloo commitment to advancing values-aligned AI that is open sourced and built for trust.
New Trust Standards to Advance AI Aligned with Human Flourishing
Pat Gelsinger, chairman at Gloo and former CEO of Intel, who is recognized for his role in establishing the widely-accepted standards behind technologies like USB and WiFi, asserted that trusted, values-aligned AI can become the norm with the right set of quality, safety and performance standards, coupled with measurable benchmarks.

Gloo has introduced its new Flourishing AI (FAI) standards that evaluate an AI model’s ability to advance human flourishing across seven key dimensions. These dimensions were developed out of a collaboration between the Human Flourishing Program, Barna Group, and Gloo. Six of the dimensions, relationships, finances, happiness, meaning, character, and health, are grounded in the work of the Human Flourishing Program at Harvard. The seventh dimension, spirituality, is based on dozens of faith-based organizations and research groups that include REVEAL and Barna. By integrating these seven dimensions, we believe the Flourishing AI standards offer a holistic measure of how effectively AI models align with the principles and practices that support the well-being of people.
The Flourishing AI standards will be accompanied by the FAI benchmark, which uses a weighted approach to generate a comprehensive overall metric. Comprising over 1,000 curated questions, the benchmark rigorously assesses the performance of popular LLMs across all of the dimensions of human flourishing.
Central to this effort is collaboration across several key partners. Gloo is partnering with the team behind the Global Flourishing Study, a five-year international research initiative driven by organizations like the Human Flourishing Program at Harvard, Baylor University and Gallup. The study spans 22 countries, involves over 200,000 participants, is supported by more than $40 million in funding, and has been instrumental in shaping the dimensions of human flourishing.

In addition to these collaborations, Gloo is working with dozens of key faith organizations, including representatives from Protestant, Catholic, and ecumenical groups, to build momentum and alignment on AI for human flourishing.
Barna is another key collaborator on the Flourishing AI standards. Barna has been partnering with Gloo to adapt and enable adoption of the seven dimensions of human flourishing so faith-based organizations can have common growth metrics to better serve their people.

To drive accountability and oversight on the Flourishing AI standards, Gloo has formed a trust advisory group dedicated to guiding the work of Gloo and other technology companies who are pursuing ethical, values-aligned AI development. The newly formed advisory group — built on past AI working groups convened by Gloo — brings together a diverse group of leaders with expertise spanning AI, security and privacy, law, academia and theology.
