Carter, a 14-year SonicWall veteran, will oversee the cybersecurity vendor’s partner organization following the departure of channel chief Michelle Ragusa-McBain, the company tells CRN.

SonicWall has named 14-year company veteran Jason Carter as head of its sizable partner organization following the departure of channel chief Michelle Ragusa-McBain, the company disclosed Friday.

In a statement provided by email to CRN, SonicWall said that Carter has assumed the global channel chief role at the cybersecurity vendor on a permanent basis.

Carter “has stepped back into the role of Global Channel Chief, bringing deep institutional knowledge and proven leadership to the company’s worldwide partner strategy,” SonicWall said in the statement.

Carter had most recently served as CRO of the network security giant starting in early 2023.

His new title is senior vice president and global channel chief, reflecting that he is now solely focused on the company’s channel and partner network, SonicWall told CRN.

Earlier in his career at SonicWall, Carter had served as executive vice president of Americas channels in 2022. He initially joined the company in 2011 as a senior sales manager and worked his way up in the company through a series of promotions, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Now, as global channel chief, Carter “will be focused on strengthening partner engagement, accelerating growth across key markets and advancing SonicWall’s channel-first approach,” the company said in the statement Friday. “His return underscores SonicWall’s continued commitment to empowering its global partner network.”

SonicWall reported that as of early 2025, the company had 18,000 worldwide channel partners, including 9,000 in North America.

Ragusa-McBain, who was named global channel chief at SonicWall in August 2023, disclosed Thursday that she had taken the top channel role at DDoS protection vendor Corero Network Security.
