WASHINGTON, June 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The Coalition for a Competitive Mobile Experience (CCME) applauds Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) for their introduction of the Open App Markets Act. This legislation would forbid abusive behavior that has for years constrained competition in the app store, restricted consumer choice, and stopped developers from delivering better experiences for users. The introduction of the Open App Markets Act follows Rep. Kat Cammack’s introduction of the App Store Freedom Act, which would promote competition and consumer choice in app stores. Earlier this year, a U.S. Federal District Court ruling required Apple to stop imposing fees on in-app purchases made through web links.
