Dive Brief:

  • Hilton has named Jeff Moore to its EVP and CTO role effective Oct. 26, the company said Tuesday. In his previous role, Moore served as VP of software engineering at Uber and led 2,500 engineers globally, supporting products such as Uber Eats and Uber for Business.
  • Moore brings over 20 years of technology leadership experience to the role. Prior to Uber, he led engineering organizations supporting Amazon devices including Kindle, Fire TV and Alexa products. He also held software engineering and operations leadership roles at Anheuser-Busch.
  • “At a time of extraordinary change, Jeff Moore’s deep technical expertise, operating experience and customer focus will help us move faster, harness AI and next-generation technology,” Chris Nassetta, Hilton’s president and CEO, said in the announcement.

Dive Insight:

Hilton’s addition of a CTO role to the leadership team comes as the hospitality company looks to enhance its AI-related capabilities.

The company began looking for a CTO in May as Nassetta pointed to significant AI opportunities ahead for the company. The company’s modernized technology platform enabled the launch of the Hilton AI Planner, an AI-powered trip planning tool it began beta testing in March, Nassetta said during Hilton’s Q2 2026 earnings call in July.

Hilton has also partnered with Google, OpenAI and Anthropic to bolster its existing AI capabilities. “We will continue to extend our technology advantage and utilize it to drive superior returns for owners and better experiences for our guests,” he said during the call.

Other hospitality companies are also tapping into AI. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts began adopting AI agents to improve guest services in 2025. Meanwhile, Marriott International embarked on a multiyear technology transformation plan to support generative AI and agents.

When Moore joins Hilton later this month, he will report directly to Nassetta. AI is driving closer relationships between tech leaders and CEOs as financial ROI and enterprisewide strategy become critical factors in the technology’s successful deployment.

“I was especially drawn to Hilton’s ambition to harness AI and next-generation technology to reimagine the guest experience and empower team members,” Moore said in the announcement. “I look forward to working with Chris Nassetta and the leadership team to help shape the next chapter of innovation at Hilton.”

Hilton is not the only company bringing in technology leaders to help drive its AI strategy. The Walt Disney Company tapped Karandeep Anand as the company’s first chief technology officer. Anand will lead enterprise technology, data and AI platforms in the newly created role.
