‘We’re sorry that some customers may be experiencing issues while shopping,’ an Amazon spokesperson said.

Hundreds of thousands of reports of an Amazon.com outage hit Downdetector Thursday, and although some reports came in for an Amazon Web Services outage, the vendor reported no new issues outside of the data centers damaged during the current conflict in the Middle East.

At peak around 12:49 p.m. Pacific, about 225,000 Amazon.com users reported the e-commerce platform was down, according to outage measurement website Downdetector.

On X, an Amazon Help account was still replying to users to apologize about website issues as of 2:23 p.m. Pacific

“We’re sorry that some customers may be experiencing issues while shopping,” an Amazon spokesperson told CRN in an email Thursday. “We appreciate customers’ patience as we work to resolve the issue.”

Amazon Outage

Amazon Web Services users reporting an outage reached 1,300 reports by 12:35 p.m. Pacific, according to Downdetector. On Tuesday, Accenture–No. 1 on CRN’s 2025 Solution Provider 500–revealed that it plans to buy Downdetector parent Ookla.

However, the online AWS health dashboard didn’t show any new issues outside of the data centers damaged by drones in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain amid ongoing conflict between Iran and the U.S. and Israel.

Amazon isn’t the only technology company to experience a major outage in 2026. In January, Verizon saw more than 100,000 reports of an outage affecting wireless voice and data services for customers. That month, Microsoft worked to correct issues affecting access to Outlook, Defender, Purview and other services in North America.
