FirstLight Extends Fiber Network to Western Pennsylvania Site, Enabling Connectivity for Hyperscalers

ALBANY, N.Y., Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — FirstLight, a leading provider of high-capacity fiber optic network solutions across the Northeast, today announced it is bringing fiber connectivity directly to a site in western Pennsylvania, a critical part of the infrastructure hyperscale and neocloud operators look for.

Fiber connectivity is often the piece that determines how quickly a site can go live. By landing fiber on-site, FirstLight gives prospective operators direct access to its shared network infrastructure across Pennsylvania and the wider Northeast, without hyperscalers having to wait for long-haul fiber builds.

The site sits along FirstLight’s existing western Pennsylvania corridor as part of a statewide footprint exceeding 3,200 route miles. That existing backbone meant the project required only 31 miles of new construction to connect the site, a targeted extension rather than a long-haul build.

“ This is exactly the kind of project we built our network to support. When a hyperscaler needs to move fast, having 20,000 miles of fiber already in place across the Northeast means we can accelerate their path to operational readiness”

— Lorenzo Leuzzi, Chief Revenue Officer, FirstLight

The site’s position along this corridor gives the option to bring in laterals and alternate path routing, providing the kind of redundancy and physical diversity that hyperscale operators increasingly require for mission-critical infrastructure.

The project adds to FirstLight’s expanding portfolio of digital infrastructure-ready sites across the Northeast, reflecting continued demand from hyperscale organizations for fiber-connected locations. FirstLight’s Northeast network spans more than 20,000 route miles in total, including over 3,200 route miles in Pennsylvania, delivering carrier-grade transport, dark fiber, unified communications, security and colocation services to hyperscalers, enterprises, carriers, and public sector customers throughout the region.
