The 20 MSP, a platform MSP that specializes in acquiring other managed service providers within a community that uses its processes and software stack, on Friday closed on its purchase of Mid-Atlantic Computer Solutions, which specializes in Apple Mac environments.
Mid-Atlantic Computer Solutions, headquartered in Alexandria, Va., gives Plano, Texas-based The 20 MSP a significant inroad into the business and education market with customers that are heavy Mac users, said Tim Conkle, The 20 MSP CEO and founder.
“Mid-Atlantic is the first company we bought that supports all Mac environments,” Conkle (pictured) told CRN. “Now we can push our services into companies with heavy Mac deployments. We’ve supported Macs for a long time. Now we have deeper knowledge in the market.”

Conkle declined to discuss the financial details of the acquisition.
Will O’Neal, owner of Mid-Atlantic, will stay on with The 20 MSP to help manage its new Mac-focused business. The entire Mid-Atlantic staff will remain as part of The 20 MSP, Conkle said.
Mid-Atlantic is The 20 MSP’s 38th acquisition in 30 months, Conkle said. Like the previous 37 acquisitions, Mid-Atlantic was a member of The 20 Group, a community of MSPs who commit to using the same processes and software stack to provide managed services. The 20 Group typically has 175 to 200 MSPs as members and continually recruits new members to take the place of those that are acquired by The 20 MSP, he said.
“Prior acquisitions have been focused mainly on expanding The 20 MSP’s geographical presence,” Conkle said. “Now we’re looking to expand for geographic and strategic reasons. Also, in the next six months, we will expand to the English-speaking parts of Canada. We’ll get into the French-speaking part eventually. In Quebec, you need your website translated to French.”
Conkle said the secret to closing 38 acquisitions in 30 months is the standardization the members of the 20 Group do as members.
“From LOI (letter of intent) to total integration we need only 60 days,” he said. “They are already standardized on everything that we offer before they are acquired.”
