AI creation, an open API, on-device runtime, and app distribution let users turn ideas into apps for magnetic e-paper devices.

NEW YORK, Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — XTEINK, a pioneer in ultra-portable magnetic e-paper devices, today launched its AI InkApp Store to international markets. The platform connects AI-assisted creation, an open API, on-device runtime and app distribution, turning plain-language prompts into shareable apps.

Through InkApp AI Studio, users describe a feature in words and AI generates the code. They can preview and refine it in a browser-based simulator, then send apps directly to a compatible device or submit them to the store for review and distribution.

AI creation, an open API, on-device runtime, and app distribution let users turn ideas into apps for XTEINK magnetic e-paper devices.

The platform currently supports the XTEINK X4 Pro, with support for the X4 Classic expected by the end of 2026. XTEINK’s magnetic e-readers have earned prestigious recognition from TIME, Lifehacker, and WIRED for their innovative design and portable reading experience.

From Reading to Creating

XTEINK’s product philosophy began with a simple idea: add a lightweight reading screen to the back of a smartphone. AI InkApp Store extends that idea from reading to creating, letting users build tools for their daily routines, from reading companions and to-do lists to custom clocks and interactive games.

“From my first day at XTEINK, I wanted to expand what the device could do,” said Eric Xu, head of AI at XTEINK. “I want anyone interested in using natural language to interact with an e-paper device to be able to create apps that meet their own needs.”

An Ecosystem Built With Users

XTEINK began prototyping AI-generated e-paper apps in January 2026, made it a formal project in March and launched InkApp AI Studio in July. By Oct. 29, more than 100 developers worldwide had created over 700 projects and engaged in over 18,000 AI conversations. Across its global app store, more than 360 apps were available, about half of them user-created, and the store had received over 1,100 submissions, including updates.

The platform handles image conversion, interface components, fonts, app storage and device compatibility. Made public on Oct. 10, the InkApp API reached version 2.17 by Oct. 29, following 34 iterations and 20 proposals co-created with the users and developers. Capabilities include live internet access, auto-save, reading status, Bluetooth keyboards and customizable interfaces.

The open API provides a foundation for development, the on-device runtime executes apps, AI Studio supports creation and preview, and the app store connects creators with users. Apps are tested in simulators and on devices, while store submissions undergo human review. Together, these four components enable users to create, test, deploy, and share their own applications. They also extend XTEINK’s brand idea, The Other Side: the other side of your phone can hold the content you choose—and run the apps you create.

Availability

XTEINK InkApp AI Studio is now available. The XTEINK X4 Pro has an MSRP of $99, comes in Space Black and Mist Gray, and is available through Amazon and XTEINK’s website. The XTEINK X4 Classic has an MSRP of $79, comes in Space Black and Mist Gray, and is available through Amazon and XTEINK’s website.
