From co-founders of OpenAI and xAI to Microsoft’s president of AI platform, Anthropic has hired some major executives in 2026 as the startup begins its channel push.
With an impending IPO this year and a market valuation at nearly $1 trillion, Anthropic is investing heavily in hiring top AI and executive talent from the world’s leading IT companies.
From the co-founders of OpenAI and xAI to Microsoft’s president of AI platform and Meta’s former data center construction leader, Anthropic has hired some major executives in 2026.
Before jumping into five of the most significant Anthropic hires of 2026 so far, here’s a quick look at Anthropic’s channel strategy unveiled this year.
Anthropic’s Partner Push In 2026
The San Francisco-based company announced a $100 million investment in its Claude Partner Network and new certification program in March as it builds out a global partner organization.
Anthropic has already accumulated a top-notch solution provider roster with its partner ecosystem already crossing over 100 partners. The Claude maker counts among its services partners CRN Solution Provider 500 members such as Accenture, Cognizant, Slalom and Caylent.

Caylent CEO Val Henderson said her company is diving deeper into Anthropic by recently launching its new Anthropic Consulting & Engineering (ACE) practice.
“The formation of ACE as a dedicated business unit is a signal—a structural commitment to being the most experienced partner at the intersection of AWS and Anthropic,” Henderson told CRN.
Henderson said Anthropic’s hiring of top executives from some of the world’s most innovative tech companies shows that the AI startup superstar is investing heavily in talent acquisition in 2026 and beyond.
Here are five newly hired Anthropic top executives that you need to know about.

Andrej Karpathy
Former Position: Tesla, Senior Director of AI
Anthropic Position: Unknown
Arguably the biggest hire of 2026 from Anthropic was Andrej Karpathy, one of the founding members of OpenAI.
Karpathy worked as a research scientist on deep learning for generative AI models and reinforcement learning at OpenAI when it launched in 2016.
He later joined Tesla as senior director of AI, leading the computer vision team of Tesla Autopilot.
Karpathy is also the founder of AI education startup company Eureka Labs.
“Personal update: I’ve joined Anthropic,” Karpathy said on X in May, a post that received millions of views and thousands of comments.
“I think the next few years at the frontier of LLMs will be especially formative,” he said. “I am very excited to join the team here and get back to R&D.”
Karpathy’s official title at Anthropic is still under wraps.
Karpathy said he’s tasked with building out a new “pre-training” team that will be focused on how Claude learns at its earliest stages of development.
Karpathy recently posted on X regarding the launch of Claude Tag. “This is a new paradigm for interacting with Claude that is significantly more “inline” with all the other human activity org-wide,” he said. “Once you do all of the under the hood engineering work to make this “just work” (e.g. across tools, integrations, compute environments, memory, security, etc.), Claude basically joins the team in a seamless way – you can talk to it as you would talk to a person and it can help with a very large variety of workloads.”

Eric Boyd
Former Position: Microsoft; President Of AI Platform
Anthropic Position: Head of Infrastructure
Eric Boyd jumped to Anthropic as its new head of infrastructure after 17 years in top executive roles at Microsoft.
Boyd was promoted to president of AI platform for Microsoft in 2015 after initially joining the company in 2009 as general manager of Bing ads development. In 2018, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella promoted him to lead the Azure AI team.
Boyd oversaw over 1,500 Azure team members and the compute infrastructure supporting both OpenAI and Anthropic’s models on Azure.
Over the years, Boyd helped lead Foundry IQ, the toolset for bringing data into agentic experiences, as well as Microsoft’s Copilot applications including Github Copilot and M365 Copilot, and all of the company’s machine learning teams on the Azure AI platform.
“Since starting at Anthropic, I’ve been telling people that I’m working in the future,” he said on LinkedIn in June. “Why the future? Because I’ve been able to use Fable 5 for the past 2 months and it’s a step change forward.”
Boyd said the “team at Anthropic is truly special” thanks to the “combination of the absolute leading models with a culture that is committed to their mission.”

Tim Hughes
Former Position: Stack Infrastructure, Chief Development Officer
Anthropic Position: Head of Energy; Leasing and Land
AI data centers are one of the biggest markets in the world in 2026 as demand for compute capacity is at a premium.
Anthropic hired data center standout Tim Hughes in February who has vast experience constructing data centers for the likes of Meta and Stack Infrastructure.
He spent six years at Stack Infrastructure from 2019 until 2026, most recently as chief development officer, building data centers for large technology clients.
Hughes also spent over eight years at social media giant Meta in top data centers roles.
As head of energy, leasing and land for Anthropic, he’s now tasked with securing land, leases and power supply needed to build Anthropic’s physical infrastructure.

Ross Nordeen
Former Position: xAI; Co-Founder
Anthropic Position: Technical Staff
One of xAI’s co-founders, Ross Nordeen, joined Anthropic in May.
Nordeen said he joined Anthropic so he can “focus on compute,” as Anthropic rapidly expands its data center infrastructure.
“Incredibly proud of the xAI team’s execution in bringing on an immense amount of compute so quickly and couldn’t be more excited for Elon [Musk]’s vision of an abundant future with intelligence spreading to the stars,” Nordeen said on X in May. “Over the past weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know the team at Anthropic and we share a similar vision.”
Nordeen previously built supercomputing capacity at Tesla before co-founding xAI in 2023.
At Tesla, he focused on everything from silicon and data centers to Kubernetes and platform engineering.
Nordeen has also held executive roles at Handshake and AI automation firm Palantir Technologies.
He now oversees Anthropic’s computing power and expansion needed to train and run its AI models.
Joe Mellet
Former Position: Google Cloud; Head of Customer Engineering, Startup Acquisition
Anthropic Position: Head of Applied AI, Americas Startups
Mellet spent over six years at Google Cloud in various top customer engineering positions before joining Anthropic in April.
As head of customer engineering for startup acquisitions in America for Google Cloud, Mellet led an organization of dozens of sales engineers with a focus on venture-backed startups that were new to Google Cloud Platform.
Mellet is now Head of Applied AI, Americas Startups at Anthropic tasked with scaling the Applied AI organization.
“Google gave me the best 6.5 years of my career. The people I met, the leadership I learned, and the technology I worked with was everything I hoped for,” he said on LinkedIn in April. “It’s time to get back to early stage building and scaling.”
